If you're looking for a domain registrar or hosting provider, you've probably come across Domain.com. The platform offers domain registration, web hosting, website-building tools, email, SSL certificates, and other services.
But looking at a pricing page only tells part of the story.
So instead of simply listing features, I wanted to take a closer look at what actually happens when you place an order — from the shopping cart and checkout page to the confirmation email and account dashboard.
I also noticed an important change during this process: Domain.com is being consolidated into Network Solutions , so some users may now see Network Solutions branding while managing services that originally came from Domain.com. Network Solutions says existing Domain.com accounts and services are being transferred to its platform, while existing services and renewal terms are intended to remain intact.

My Actual Domain.com Purchase Experience
One thing I wanted to do differently with this review was actually go through the purchasing process instead of relying only on the information displayed on the homepage.
The process starts like a typical domain and hosting purchase: choose the service, review the cart, check the available offers, and proceed to checkout.
What stood out to me was that the checkout page displayed both the promotional price and the renewal price for the hosting product.

In my checkout, the Starter Hosting plan was displayed at $5.99 for the initial purchase , while the renewal price shown was $13.99 .
The order summary also showed:
- Starter Hosting: $5.99
- Regular displayed price: $13.99
- Promotional savings: $8.00
- Tax: $0.00
- Today's total: $5.99
This is an important detail because the promotional price and the renewal price are not the same.
Domain.com Pricing: Pay Attention to the Renewal Price
This is probably the most important thing I would tell someone before placing an order.
A promotional price can look very attractive when you're making the initial purchase, but you should always check what the product is expected to renew at.
In my case:
Initial price: $5.99
Displayed renewal price: $13.99
So I wouldn't recommend looking only at the large promotional number shown on the checkout page.
Instead, check:
- The initial price
- The billing period
- The renewal price
- Whether the product renews automatically
- Any additional services included in the order
Domain.com currently states that products and packages can automatically renew using the payment method on file, with renewal pricing based on the then-current rate.
That makes checking the renewal information before completing the purchase especially important.
What the Shopping Cart Looked Like
The cart gave me a better idea of how additional services can affect the total.

In one of my orders, the cart contained multiple SSL Certificate (Xpress) products along with Starter Hosting.
The hosting product was shown with a promotional offer, while the SSL products were listed separately.
This is worth paying attention to because the final amount isn't necessarily determined by the main product you initially clicked on.
Before continuing to checkout, I recommend expanding the cart and checking every individual item .
Reviewing the Order Summary
After reviewing the cart, the order summary provided a more detailed breakdown.

One order summary I captured showed:
- 4 items
- Subtotal: $46.96
- Total savings: -$13.99
- Tax: $0.00
- Today's total: $32.97
This is useful because it shows exactly how the promotional discount was being applied before payment.
The important part here isn't simply the final number. It's being able to see how that number was calculated.
The Checkout Page
The checkout itself was fairly straightforward.
The page included the usual account and billing information sections, followed by the payment information.

The checkout also displayed additional offers, including an option related to Google Workspace.
This is something I would keep an eye on during any hosting or domain purchase: don't assume every offer displayed during checkout is required for the main service.
Read the individual product name, price, billing period, and renewal terms before adding anything.
What I Received After the Purchase
The confirmation emails were particularly useful because they provided a separate breakdown of the products and their billing terms.
For example, one confirmation showed:
- Starter Hosting — $5.99
- Renewal price shown — $13.99
- cWatch Basic — $0.00
- Subtotal — $5.99
- Tax — $0.00
- Total — $5.99

Another order contained a domain, Domain Privacy + Protection, Professional Email, and Secure Xpress.
The total in that particular order was:
- Domain: $5.00
- Secure Xpress: $1.99
- ICANN fee: $0.20
- Subtotal: $6.99
- Total: $7.19
The exact products and promotional prices can vary depending on the order, so I wouldn't treat these numbers as a permanent Domain.com price list.
They are better understood as examples of what appeared during my own purchasing experience.
Managing the Account After Purchase
After completing the order, I could access the account management area and see the purchased services.

The account area showed the website and hosting section, along with the active service.
This was also where the transition between the Domain.com and Network Solutions brands became more noticeable.
Domain.com and Network Solutions: What's Going On?
This is probably the biggest thing that has changed around Domain.com recently.
Network Solutions officially says that Domain.com is becoming Network Solutions and that existing Domain.com accounts and services are being transferred to Network Solutions. According to its FAQ, most customers can continue using their existing credentials, while services such as domains, hosting, website builders, and SSL certificates remain active during the transition.
Network Solutions also states that account history will be retained and that renewal dates and contract terms will not change as part of the consolidation.
So if you previously used Domain.com and now see Network Solutions branding, that doesn't necessarily mean you've purchased a completely different service.
It's part of the ongoing consolidation.

Domain Registration
Domain registration remains one of the main reasons people use Domain.com.
The current Domain.com website continues to offer domain registration across several extensions, including .com, .net, .org, .info, and .biz. Promotional pricing can apply to eligible new registrations, while renewal pricing is handled separately.
For example, the website currently advertises promotional .com pricing, but the exact offer and eligibility can change.
That's why I would treat any advertised introductory price as a promotion rather than the long-term cost of owning the domain .
Web Hosting
Domain.com also offers shared hosting packages.
Its current hosting page lists features such as a drag-and-drop website builder, website hosting, FTP accounts, storage, email, SSL, and different plans for different website sizes.
The available resources depend on the hosting package.
For someone building a small website, blog, or basic business site, shared hosting can be a straightforward way to keep the domain and hosting under one account.
However, if you're expecting significant traffic or need advanced server-level control, you should compare the specifications of the plan you're buying rather than choosing based solely on the promotional price.
SSL Certificates and Security Services
SSL and security-related products also appeared during my purchasing process.
Some orders contained SSL Certificate (Xpress) products, while other orders included security-related services.

One thing worth mentioning is that SSL and security products should be evaluated individually.
Don't simply assume that every security-related product is necessary because it appears during checkout.
Check what the product actually covers and whether your hosting package already includes an SSL certificate.
Domain.com's current hosting information, for example, advertises SSL as part of its hosting offering on eligible plans.
Domain Privacy and Professional Email
Another part of the purchasing experience was the availability of additional services such as:
- Domain Privacy + Protection
- Professional Email
- Website services
- Security products
Some of these appeared at $0.00 during promotional periods .
That doesn't necessarily mean the service will remain indefinitely free.
For example, Domain.com's current promotional terms specify that certain free email and privacy offers apply only for a defined promotional period and that services can renew at the then-current rate.
So once again, the important thing is to check the term attached to the offer.
Checking My Order History
After purchasing, I could also access the order history section.

The Order History section showed the order information and amount paid, with options to open the order details.
This is a useful feature because you don't have to rely entirely on searching through old confirmation emails to find information about a previous purchase.
What I Liked About the Experience
Based specifically on the purchasing process I went through, a few things were useful.
1. The checkout showed the renewal price
Seeing $5.99 today alongside $13.99 at renewal made the promotional pricing easier to understand.
2.The order breakdown was detailed
The confirmation emails separated the individual products and charges rather than showing only one final number.
3. The account provides access to order history
Being able to review previous orders is useful when managing multiple domains or services.
4. There are several services available under one account
Domains, hosting, SSL, email, privacy, and website-related services can all be managed through the same ecosystem.
Things I Would Check Before Buying
There are also a few things I wouldn't overlook.
Promotional pricing
The introductory price may be significantly different from the renewal price.
Additional products
Review every item in the cart before paying.
Renewal terms
Don't assume that a free or discounted service stays free after the promotional period.
Automatic renewal
Check which products are set to renew and what payment method is attached to the account.
Current pricing
Prices and promotions can change, so don't rely on an old screenshot as a current price list.
Is Domain.com Easy to Use?
From the purchasing and account-management side, the process is relatively straightforward.
The basic flow is familiar:
Choose a product → Add to cart → Review order → Checkout → Receive confirmation → Manage the order from your account.
The main thing that requires attention isn't necessarily the checkout itself. It's understanding exactly what you're purchasing and what happens when the promotional period ends.
That becomes especially important when several services are included in the same order.
Domain.com Review: My Final Take
After going through the actual purchasing process, I think the most useful way to look at Domain.com isn't simply by asking whether the advertised introductory price looks cheap.
The better question is:
What exactly am I buying, how much am I paying today, and what will renew later?
In my experience, the checkout and order confirmation provided enough information to answer those questions, provided that I actually took the time to review each line item.
The ongoing transition to Network Solutions is another important factor for existing Domain.com customers. Network Solutions says that accounts, services, account history, renewal dates, and other important information are being carried over as part of the consolidation.
For anyone considering Domain.com, I'd recommend checking the full cart, renewal prices, billing period, and optional services before completing the purchase .
That's ultimately more useful than judging the service based on its promotional headline price alone.
